This spherical brass wind chime is crafted by skilled metalworkers in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. The city of Takaoka is historically renowned for producing copperware for Buddhist rituals and tea ceremonies. This wind chime is inspired by the orin, a bell used in Buddhist rituals. Like the orin, the wind chime is crafted from brass, and produces a soothing tone when it chimes.
The metalworkers make the wind chimes using long-established techniques, developed from the production of Buddhist ritual objects and Japanese tea ceremony utensils. The bells are sand cast and polished by hand to produce a smooth finish. As a result, each wind chime has a slight difference in weight, texture and tone, reflected in the individual melodic sound that is activated by a gentle breeze.

Individual items will differ from one another slightly, due to their handmade nature.
