Born in Kanagawa prefecture, Muraki Yūji is a graduate of both the Tokyo Designer Gakuin College and Seto Ceramics Training School. He later studied Otani-ware production in Tokushima Prefecture before setting up his own workshop in Ito, Shizuoka Prefecture. His ceramics are known for their simple yet warm finishes.
