This vase, produced entirely from tin, is named after its shape, ichijiku (fig). Nousaku is based in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture – an area well-known for its metal-casting industry producing items from copper, tin, bronze and brass. Each item undergoes a process of ‘sand casting’ in which molten metal is poured into a sand mould and is subsequently hand-finished, which means no two Nousaku items are completely identical. Vases made from tin are thought to offer flowers a longer lifespan thanks to the metal’s purifying, antibacterial properties and resistance to rust and decay. The vase offers a contrast of stark silver against the natural vividness of brightly coloured flowers.

Wash with a mild detergent using a soft sponge.

It is recommended to occasionally polish with baking soda to bring out the lustre.

Not dishwasher safe.
