At its conception in 1957 the GOOD DESIGN AWARD was the first and continues as the only comprehensive design evaluation and commendation system in Japan. The award seeks out elements of design that explore the following five themes: humanity, honesty, innovation, aesthetics and ethics. Award-winning products are distinguished by the use of the “G Mark,” now widely recognized as a symbol of good design. Companies and designers from Japan and the rest of the world are invited to participate in the GOOD DESIGN AWARD process to maintain high standards throughout the industry and thereby increase the quality of life for all through design.
Discover the GOOD DESIGN AWARD Collection, featuring a soy sauce pot with a hole in the lid that controls the flow of soy sauce and a spout shaped to prevent dripping after use, alongside a storytelling tool of wooden blocks – each side engraved with characters, scenes, and adventures that can be playfully combined to build narratives.
