Hyakkō: 100+ Makers

百工のデザイン

Hyakkō: 100+ Makers explores the beauty of everyday things from Japan through a collection of nearly 2,000 hand-crafted items by more than 120 artists, craftspeople, and self-taught makers. The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Ryohin Keikaku Co., Ltd. (MUJI).

This collection celebrates the people and processes behind everyday craft in Japan, from distinctive urushi (Japanese lacquer) walnut plates to vibrant blue soda-glass hirahai (a shallow sake vessel). It also features publications that document the work of contemporary ceramicists such as Hatta Toru and Ono Teppei.
