Tsujiwa Kanaami is a family-run workshop in Kyoto, which has been specializing in the craft of kyō-kanaami since 1933. Kyō-kanaami is a tradition of hand-weaving with metal wire (kana is ‘metal’ and ami is ‘to weave’) to produce kitchen utensils, which dates back to the Heian period (794–1185). Wire is meticulously knitted into intricate patterns to create elegant, delicate yet sturdy and durable kitchen accessories, loved by professional chefs and home cooks alike.
