Born in Nagano Prefecture, Shozo Koike has been fascinated with impressionist paintings since childhood. He attended Taikeiyo Academy of Fine Arts in Tokyo where he majored in painting, then moved to Italy and received a degree from the Palazzo Spinalli Institute of Art and Restoration in Florence. His works have been exhibited at prestigious galleries both in Italy and Japan, . He currently lives in Italy where he continues to engage in restoration works, painting and teaching sumi-e through courses and workshops.
