Kawakami Mieko is a poet and writer from Osaka. Her work explores the female body, ethics, and issues within contemporary society. She has received several literary awards, including the Akutagawa Prize in 2008 for Breasts and Eggs, the Murasaki Shikibu Prize for Heaven, and the Tanizaki Prize in 2013 for Dreams of Love, etc.
