Chikuseikō is a bamboo charcoal incense crafted entirely from natural ingredients on Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture.
Chikuseikō is a bamboo charcoal incense crafted from natural ingredients on Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture. Awaji Island produces 70 percent of Japan’s incense, thanks to the westerly winds that blow during the winter, providing ideal conditions for drying and creating high-quality incense.
The two key ingredients of the incense are bamboo charcoal and the aqueous solution derived from cooling the smoke during the carbonization process of bamboo. This blend with bamboo charcoal results in incense with minimal smoke output. The incense’s subtle aroma, sourced from plants, also offers natural deodorizing properties.
Chikuseikō incense is available in fragrances of bamboo and cherry blossom.
As natural ingredients are used, there may be differences in finish, colour and size.
Please use an incense holder on a stable surface and avoid any flammable objects nearby.

Chūbu
The central Chūbu region is predominantly mountainous, home to the rugged Japan Alps with coasts on both the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The region's history has been shaped by its strategic position between the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo with Nagoya at its heart. Niigata lies to the north while Mt Fuji can be found in the south in Shizuoka Prefecture.
