This DIY butter knife whittling kit is produced by Urban Ole Ecopark in Nara Prefecture, in collaboration with BSC Rainbow Works, a disability-inclusive workspace. The kit features ash wood and offers a hands-on introduction to woodcrafting with locally sourced materials, finishing tools, and easy-to-follow instructions.
The kit invites users to experience the satisfaction of developing a new skill and encourages a lasting connection between the maker and their handcrafted object.
Do not soak the wooden cutlery in water for extended periods.
Hand wash only and store in a dry place.
Reapply beeswax periodically to maintain protection and finish.
A craft knife is not included; however, any standard penknife will be suitable for whittling.
Recommended for ages 10 and up.

Three grades of sandpaper
A pot of beeswax
A piece of ash wood
Two pieces of polishing cloth
