This book provides a comprehensive overview of projects by the architecture firm SANAA and its founding architects, Sejima Kazuyo and Nishizawa Ryue, between 2011 and 2018. It features more than 40 built projects, exhibitions and furniture designs by SANAA, alongside a further 38 projects from Sejima and Nishizawa’s individual practices.
These are accompanied by architectural models, renderings, plans and sketches that illustrate the ideas and development behind the designs. Through their essays, Sejima and Nishizawa reflect on their thought processes and outline the development and philosophy of their work. Highlights include Naoshima Port Terminal, Osaka University of Arts and Jining Museum.
SANAA is an internationally renowned architectural firm based in Tokyo, Japan. It was established in 1995 by architects Sejima Kazuyo and Nishizawa Ryue, who were awarded the prestigious Pritzker Prize in 2010.
Notable works include the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York, and the Bocconi New Campus in Milan.
