Barley tea bags, sand-roasted in Takayama, Gifu Prefecture.
Barley tea is a popular summer staple in households across Japan, known for its toasted barley flavour. Naturally caffeine-free, these pyramid tea bags can be brewed quickly with 150 ml of hot water and enjoyed chilled or hot.
Nabeshimameicha Inc.’s barley tea is gently sand-roasted to create a rich, aromatic flavour and a clear amber infusion without bitter or burnt notes.
The barley is sown in autumn and grows under snow through winter before being harvested in early summer. These conditions produce larger grains with a gentle sweetness.
How to brew:
Add 1 bag to 150 ml of boiled water.
Brew for 2 minutes.
Enjoy hot or chilled.

Chūbu
The central Chūbu region is predominantly mountainous, home to the rugged Japan Alps with coasts on both the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The region's history has been shaped by its strategic position between the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo with Nagoya at its heart. Niigata lies to the north while Mt Fuji can be found in the south in Shizuoka Prefecture.
