竹製茶杓
A lightweight bamboo tea ladle designed for scooping matcha.
For those who want to immerse themselves in the art of chadō (Way of Tea), tea ladles or scoops called chashaku in Japanese are an indispensible tool. Chashaku have become an indispensible part of the Japanese tea ceremony following its adoption from the Asian continent around the 15th century. Chashaku not only hold a ceremonial purpose but are also highly utilitarian. The long and narrow shape combined with a flat, slightly wider scoop and a rounded tip allows one to scoop the right amount of matcha even from the bottom of a caddy. As chashaku developed in tandem with tea culture over the ages, their design evolved to ensure the ideal measurement of matcha.

The central Chūbu region is predominantly mountainous, home to the rugged Japan Alps with coasts on both the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The region's history has been shaped by its strategic position between the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo with Nagoya at its heart. Niigata lies to the north while Mt Fuji can be found in the south in Shizuoka Prefecture.
