Iri Bancha, a roasted green tea made from mature leaves, by Kyoto-based Ippodo.
Iri bancha is a roasted tea made from large, mature tea leaves harvested together with their stems. After harvesting, the leaves are sun-dried, left unrolled, and then roasted. A final stir-roast over high heat gives the tea its distinctive character.
This process imparts a smoky aroma reminiscent of a wood fire, while the finish remains clean and refreshing. With relatively low levels of tannins and caffeine, the tea has a gentle profile well suited to evening drinking or moments of relaxation.
Packaged in teabags designed for a 500ml teapot.
Pour 500 ml of hot water over one tea bag and steep for 5 minutes.
140g (7g × 20 bags)
