A set of three tea varieties by by Kyoto-based Ippodo.
This set features three varieties of tea, each reflecting different cultivation and processing methods that produce distinct characteristics and benefits.
Gyokuro is shade-grown for around twenty days and is known for its sweet, mellow flavour and clear aroma. The shaded cultivation suppresses the formation of catechins, reducing astringency, while preserving theanine, an amino acid believed to reduce stress and promote relaxation. Gyokuro pairs especially well with sweet confectionery.
Sencha is grown in direct sunlight and offers a balance of sweetness and astringency. With a clean, refreshing finish, it is commonly enjoyed in the morning or after meals.
Hojicha is produced by roasting green tea leaves, resulting in a toasted aroma and a relatively low caffeine content. This makes it suitable for consumption at any time of day.
Pour 150 mL of hot water over one tea bag and steep for 60 seconds.
