This set of Echizen washi postcards includes four designs each featuring asagao (morning glory) flowers floating around in a wash basin. Echizen washi is a type of Japanese paper made in the Echizen area of Fukui Prefecture, the largest washi-making area in Japan with a history stretching back 1500 years. Known for its high quality and its gentle texture, Echizen washi has been highly valued throughout history, including by the aristocracy. These postcards fully reflect the texture and writing experience that made this washi a favourite of the powers that ruled Japan.
No special care required.
The set contains two sheets of each design and 8 postcards in total.

The central Chūbu region is predominantly mountainous, home to the rugged Japan Alps with coasts on both the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The region's history has been shaped by its strategic position between the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo with Nagoya at its heart. Niigata lies to the north while Mt Fuji can be found in the south in Shizuoka Prefecture.
