うなぎの寝床
Based in Chikugo City, Unagi no nedoko is a store that showcases the varied crafts that exist in southern Fukuoka Prefecture. The store was established in 2012, hosting events such as the Monpe Expo which exhibited and sold a large range of monpe (loose workwear trousers, originally worn by farmers) made from Kurume-kasuri textiles (a textile created from the technique of dying threads before weaving which was born in the nearby city of Kurume). At present the store holds a wide collection of clothing, tableware and homeware crafted with local materials by local craftspeople along with their own range of clothing using Kurume-kasuri.
