This hariko (papier-mâché) snake is designed to honour the zodiac animal for 2025, the Year of the Snake. Hariko, the Japanese papier-mâché technique, has been used for centuries in Japan to create a wide variety of folk toys, often used as ornaments or good luck charms carrying symbolic meanings.
The white snake is regarded as the messenger of Benzaiten, the deity of music, wisdom, and treasure, and is considered an auspicious symbol. Historically, snakes have also been seen as guardians of the home. This hariko snake has a quiet, powerful presence and watches over all for a peaceful year. Adorning the snake’s body is ume (plum blossom), a symbol of perseverance and vitality, as they bloom even in the depths of winter.

As the figurine is made with paper, avoid contact with water.
Do not expose painted areas to friction.
Avoid placing in areas where there is direct sunlight or near air conditioning, as extreme changes in temperature can lead to damage.
Do not expose to force, to avoid denting.
Individual items will differ from one another slightly, due to their handmade nature.
