Produced by the Taniguchi Clay Factory in Ishikawa Prefecture, Hanasaka is a ceramic brand named after the high-quality raw material, Hanasaka pottery stone, extractable solely from a small number of quarries located in this area. Handcrafted using a style of pottery known as Kutani yaki, this bowl is part of Hanasaka’s Une series, a line of everyday tableware that reflects the characteristics of the Hanasaka pottery stone. The delicate beige colour of the glaze is achieved through the upcycling of the ‘impure’ soil discarded when making the clay.
Not dishwasher, microwave or oven safe.

The central Chūbu region is predominantly mountainous, home to the rugged Japan Alps with coasts on both the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The region's history has been shaped by its strategic position between the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo with Nagoya at its heart. Niigata lies to the north while Mt Fuji can be found in the south in Shizuoka Prefecture.
