A cloud-shaped sometsuke (blue and white) plate produced by Hidaka Naoko in Okayama Prefecture.
This cloud-shaped plate is created by Hidaka Naoko and features a contemporary design with the charm of an antique. Rather than depicting the subjects realistically, Hidaka conveys their character through her distinct style – in this design, horses appear to race across the surface of the plate.
Hidaka creates vessels painted with gosu (cobalt oxide) blue. Balancing form and design, her pieces are made to complement and enhance the food they hold. Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1972, she graduated from Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Technical College in 2011. From 2011 to 2015, she worked at a ceramics studio in Gifu, before relocating to Okayama Prefecture in 2016.
Not suitable for use in a microwave or dishwasher.
