Produced by the Taniguchi Clay Factory in Ishikawa Prefecture, Hanasaka is a ceramic brand named after the high-quality raw material, Hanasaka pottery stone, extractable solely from a small number of quarries located in this area. Handcrafted using a style of pottery known as Kutani-yaki, this sake cup is part of Hanasaka’s Blanc series. Skilled craftspeople smooth off the surface of the cup resulting in a thin, white silhouette, giving the series its name ‘Blanc’, which means ‘white’ in French. After firing, the cup remains unglazed, resulting in a matte finish.
Not dishwasher, microwave or oven safe.

The central Chūbu region is predominantly mountainous, home to the rugged Japan Alps with coasts on both the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The region's history has been shaped by its strategic position between the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo with Nagoya at its heart. Niigata lies to the north while Mt Fuji can be found in the south in Shizuoka Prefecture.
