A Seto-yaki ceramic talisman celebrating 2025, the Year of the Snake.
This Seto-yaki (a type of ceramic produced in Seto, Aichi Prefecture) snake, is a talisman created in celebration of 2025, the Year of the Snake. White snakes are said to be messengers to Benzaiten (a deity of music, wisdom, and treasure) and are associated with rainfall that leads to bountiful harvests. Their ability to shed their skin symbolizes renewal and is considered an auspicious symbol, particularly for financial success.
Seto, home to one of Japan’s ‘Six Ancient Kilns,’ is celebrated for its exceptional clay quality. Seto-yaki ceramics are renowned for their refined white-fired bodies, and the glaze on this snake creates a glossy, translucent finish accented by a delicate blue hue.
Individual items will differ from one another slightly, due to their handmade nature.
