A handcrafted glass katakuchi (a pitcher for pouring sake) produced by Sghr in collaboration with Sōen, a platform dedicated to promoting Japanese craftsmanship.
This glass katakuchi (a pitcher for pouring sake) is elegantly formed by the craftspeople at Sghr in Chiba Prefecture. Established in 1932, the Sghr glass workshop has been skilfully producing hand-crafted glassware for nearly a century. The katakuchi is produced in collaboration with Sōen, a platform that highlights Japanese craftsmanship by developing a single design with various manufacturers and makers, who execute the design using their specialist material.
The katakuchi is designed to hold one gō (approximately 180ml of sake), a measuring unit originating from the size of a cedar masu—a small wooden box once used to measure rice. The clear glass allows the user to appreciate their sake’s colour and translucency.
Dishwasher safe.
