A lightweight and warm scarf crafted using Kōbō Oriza’s original weaving technique.
This scarf is woven from lustrous silk warp yarns and soft mohair-silk weft yarns using Kōbō Oriza’s original weaving technique. In this construction, the warp yarns secure the weft yarns in place, helping to maintain the characteristic wave pattern and preventing distortion of the fabric structure.
Made from 55% mohair and 45% silk, the scarf offers excellent warmth while remaining lightweight despite its volume. Its minimal design allows it to be worn either as a scarf or draped over the shoulders as a stole.
Based in Imabari, Ehime Prefecture, Kōbō Oriza specializes in woven accessories. By restoring and modifying historic looms collected from across Japan, the company developed its own looms for weaving kimono-width textiles, which are still used today. Textiles are slowly woven and carefully finished by hand, including hand-knotted fringes.
Hand wash with a mild detergent.
Not suitable for tumble dry.
39 × 185 cm (including fringes)
Shikoku
The island of Shikoku is divided into four prefectures. All of these can be visited on the 88-temple Buddhist pilgrimage around the island. The area is also home to Naoshima, a small island in the Inland Sea, known for its many contemporary art installations and museums while the Tokushima Prefecture is famous for its cultivation of Japanese indigo.
