A set of tin chopstick rests representing plum and cherry blossoms, handcrafted by NOUSAKU in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture, an area renowned for metal casting.
These malleable chopstick rests are handcast from pure tin, taking the form of a plum and cherry blossom. Naturally antibacterial and resistant to oxidation, tin is well suited to tableware. Its softness allows each piece to be gently shaped, so the petals can appear partially open or in full bloom.
The plum blossom, which flowers in late winter, heralds the arrival of spring, while the cherry blossom represents the height of the season. Together, the two flowers evoke the gradual transition into springtime and have long been associated with renewal and appreciation of seasonal change.
