An unglazed kyūsu (a teapot for brewing green tea) from Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, thoughtfully crafted for enjoying green tea.
This kyūsu (a teapot for brewing green tea) is crafted in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, home to one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns. Jinsui, the maker of the kyūsu was established in the Edo period (1603-1868) and has used the durable, water-resistant properties of Tokoname clay for hundreds of years.
Unglazed to highlight the clay’s natural texture, this kyūsu features a minimalist design. It has a lightweight, rounded body that is easily lifted by a hollow, slender handle that remains cool and prevents it from feeling heavy. The lid is meticulously crafted to fit with no visible gaps and features a built-in sieve to catch the tea leaves.
Pair with the Tokoname Ware Tea Cup Set of 2 for sharing green tea.
