青白磁木瓜平向 竹下努
A small plate shaped in mokkō moyō by Takeshita Tsutomu, crafted in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture.
This small plate is crafted by ceramicist Takeshita Tsutomu in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. Its size is well suited for serving small desserts or snacks, and its distinctive form is inspired by mokkō moyō (a pattern developed from the cross-section of a gourd).
Born in Nagano Prefecture, Takeshita studied ceramics in Tajimi after graduating from high school, where he later established his practice. His work is influenced by Joseon white porcelain, which he values for its warmth despite being porcelain. This sensibility is reflected in his pale blue tableware, which carries a gentle, refined quality. Takeshita describes his vessels as frames for food and drink, considering them complete only when they are used.
As each piece is handmade, there might be individual differences.

The central Chūbu region is predominantly mountainous, home to the rugged Japan Alps with coasts on both the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The region's history has been shaped by its strategic position between the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo with Nagoya at its heart. Niigata lies to the north while Mt Fuji can be found in the south in Shizuoka Prefecture.
