Wool scarves with distinctive three-dimensional structures and reversible designs.
These scarves are crafted by Kijinokanosei (lit. ‘the possibilities of textiles’), founded in 2022 by Tanaka Yoshiko. The textiles are characterised by their distinctive three-dimensional structures and reversible designs, with each side offering a different expression. This duality expands the creative potential of what are commonly single-sided fabrics, redefining the versatility of textiles.
The scarves are available in four patterns: Sankanshion, Sashiko, Shinshin, and Yozora.
Sankanshion
A soft tweed woven with mottled and marled threads, blending warmer colours with cooler tones. The design reflects the view from a window, capturing the anticipation of spring during a cold winter’s day.
Sashiko
A Morse code-like pattern created through the contrast between loosely twisted plump yarns and lightly twisted compact yarns. The differing qualities of wool shrink unpredictably during the final wash, producing an organic and distinctive motif.
Shinshin
A textile characterized by variations in thread thickness and undulation, creating a sense of movement that evokes the layered depth of a forest.
Yozora
A softly woven fabric featuring white sashiko (an embroidery technique used to mend, reinforce, and embellish garments) forming diamond patterns on a navy background, resembling a night sky filled with stars.
Dry clean only.

Niigata lies to the north while Mt Fuji can be found in the south in Shizuoka Prefecture.
