Internationally acclaimed Architecture for Dogs was devised by Hara Kenya, President of the Nippon Desing Center and Japan House London Creative Advisor. It features a collection of architectural designs for dogs by celebrated architects and designers such as Kuma Kengo, Itō Toyō, Sou Fujimoto and Ban Shigeru.
This bilingual book written in English and Japanese, offers a glimpse into the creative process of each architect’s piece, designed with a different dog breed in mind, including the Beagle, Bichon Frise, Shiba Inu, Boston Terrier and Poodle. With playful photograhpy and insightful descriptions on the concept of each architectural work and the specific features of each dog breed, Architecture for Dogs provides a light-hearted route into design and architecture. The book provides detailed blueprints, assembly instructions and lists of materials required to recreate each piece, inviting its readers to delve even deeper by making the pieces themselves.

Chief Creative Director for the overall Japan House project, eminent designer Hara Kenya is also President of Nippon Design Center, Professor at Tokyo’s Musashino Art University and Art Director of MUJI. In the UK, Hara’s work has been exhibited in London at the Design Museum, the Science Museum, The Wellcome Collection and indeed Japan House London.
