This tape dispenser is a reproduction of famous Japanese industrial designer Yanagi Sōri’s original design from the 1960s. Through collaboration between Yanagi Design and Japanese stationery and furniture manufacturer Kokuyo, this faithful replica was made possible via 3D scanning of the original tape dispenser, which is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The new tape dispenser has been equipped with improved technology for more effective cutting and easier movement, while retaining the simple and elegant form of Yanagi’s design. Its base is made of cast-iron, meaning its weight secures it in place when the tape is pulled. The body made of melamine resin can be rotated 360 degrees, allowing it to be used from any angle.
