Shigaraki-yaki has a long history dating as far back as 8th century CE. It is said to have originated during the construction of Shigaraki Palace when the tiles of the palace were fired. Characterized by their rich texture, Shigaraki-yaki vessels feature warm colours of scarlet and brown, and are known to be resistant to high temperatures due to the clay from which it is made.

There might be slight differences as each piece is handmade.
