This set of pure tin chopstick rests is made in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture – an area renowned throughout Japan for its metal-casting industry. This intricately cast set of chopstick rests is hand-finished by expert craftspeople and features classic Japanese decorative motifs. Malleable yet strong, tin also has antibacterial properties, making it an ideal material for cutlery and tableware. Due to their softness these chopstick rests can easily be folded into any desired shape.
The central Chūbu region is predominantly mountainous, home to the rugged Japan Alps with coasts on both the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The region's history has been shaped by its strategic position between the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo with Nagoya at its heart. Niigata lies to the north while Mt Fuji can be found in the south in Shizuoka Prefecture.
