Autumn Collection
秋コレクション
As the relentless heat of Japan's summer lessens, autumn's milder weather also brings a multitude of events and activities to be enjoyed.
The foliage of trees, notably momiji (Japanese maple), turns vibrant shades of red transforming the landscape. This seasonal change is tracked in weather reports and on television as a kōyō (changing colours of the leaves) front as it progresses across the country, just as the cherry blossom is in spring, allowing people to judge when they can best time outings to see the finest display. Autumn offers a rich harvest of autumnal produce including chestnuts, sweet potatoes and pumpkins, while the smell of matsutake gohan (wild pine mushroom cooked with dashi and short grain rice) is the aroma of the season. As the nights get longer and temperatures drop, autumn is considered the ideal time to immerse yourself in a good book.
