Bamboo Charcoal Kenzan Flower Stand

Bamboo is a material widely used in three major performing arts in Japan: sadō (tea ceremony), kadō (flower arrangement), and kodō (incense ceremony). In this case a mixture of bamboo charcoal, Edo charcoal, cement and sand is used to craft a kenzan, a flower stand utilized for ikebana flower arrangements.

By placing this bamboo charcoal flower stand into a small cup or vessel of water, the natural water filtering qualities of bamboo charcoal create an optimal environment for plants to absorb the water, keeping the water clear of build up for longer, and extending the life of the ikebana. The five dimples in the kenzan allow for a small arrangement of flowers or just one solitary flower in a display that can help change the atmosphere of a room.

After use, wash with water and leave to dry naturally.
