茶杯 故金あかり
A rounded teacup handcrafted by Karugane Akari in Tajima City Gifu Prefecture.
This round teacup is made by Karugane Akane in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture, and holds around 200 ml, making it ideal for enjoying green tea. Inspired by Panari-yaki (a rustic earthenware from the Yaeyama Islands, Okinawa) produced between the 17th and 19th centuries, the piece features a turquoise hue layered over the natural tones of the clay.
Born in 1995, Karugane graduated from the Department of Craft and Industrial Design at Musashino Art University in 2019 and later studied at the Tajimi City Ceramic Design Institute in 2022. Her work is characterized by functional vessels with multi-coloured surfaces and curved silhouettes. The distinctive texture is created by dabbing and layering colours with a sponge, bringing depth and warmth to each piece.

The region's history has been shaped by its strategic position between the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo with Nagoya at its heart.
