桧と桜の鍋しき
An extendable pot rest crafted from a combination of hinoki (Japanese cypress) and sakura (cherry blossom) in Nabari City, Mie Prefecture.
This extendable pot rest is constructed of a combination of hinoki (Japanese cypress) and sakura (cherry blossom) batons. At first glance the pot rest is 14cm square, however, the individual batons can be unfolded to cover a larger surface area. The design highlights the colour difference between the two types of wood, the darker sakura and the lighter hinoki, to create a striped pattern.
