Furoshiki wrapping cloth with a celebratory, circular motif that symbolizes harmony.
Furoshiki (wrapping cloth) represent a long-standing practice of Japanese wrapping, which dates back over a thousand years. Historically used to protect items or wrap gifts, the cloth is reusable and can be tied to create an eco-conscious bag.
Each cloth is carefully printed by artisans using nassen, a block printing technique that produces vivid colors and fine detail.
The design features interlinked circles called shippo tsunagi, shown in red and white, colours associated with celebratory occasions. The continuous circular pattern symbolizes harmony and the richness of human relationships. The name shippo (seven treasures) reflects the idea that human bonds are as precious as gold, silver, and gemstones.
