A tin sake cup by NOUSAKU, based in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture – a region known for its leading role in domestic cast metal production.
This 60ml guinomi (sake cup) is handcrafted from tin by NOUSAKU artisans. Its bowl-shaped form fits comfortably in the hand, making it satisfying to hold. Tin has long been valued for storing food and drink, as it preserves freshness. When used for sake, it is said to reduce impurities and enhance flavour. Its high thermal conductivity allows the vessels to chill quickly in a refrigerator, while remaining resistant to oxidation and discoloration.
The name Madoka, meaning circle, evokes harmony and tranquility, suggesting a relaxed drinking experience. The impression is reinforced by the vessels smooth, elegant curves.
