A hand-painted rice bowl with a dynamic arabesque pattern made using gosu (a distinctive pigment that is usually blue) produced in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture.
This skilfully painted rice bowl has a blue pattern from gosuzome (a dying technique using gosu, a distinctive blue pigment). The bowl’s depth of colour and shading is achieved through varied brushstroke thickness in gosu, bringing the dynamic quality to the arabesque pattern along its walls. A reddish-brown gosu highlights the rim and accents the dotted design around the foot.
Produced in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture, the comfortable weight, well-balanced design and tall foot allow the rice bowl to fit comfortably in the hand.

Do not use it if there are cracks, chips or the item is broken.
Do not expose to an open flame or oven.
Although the base is polished, take care not to drag across surfaces in order to avoid scratching.
Suitable for microwave and dishwasher.
There may be fine hairline cracks in the glaze: this is part of the design and occurs due to the difference in shrinkage rate in clay and glaze.
There is iron powder in the glaze which can result in black spots.
Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as immersing the heated bowl in cool water, to prevent cracking.
