This hariko (papier-mâché) snake with a bobbing head is created to celebrate the zodiac animal of 2025—the snake. Hand-painted by skilled craftspeople, each snake has a distinct expression.
These playful snake ornaments are created through a collaboration between Nakagawa Masashichi Shōten, a Japanese craft retailer and Nozawa Mingei, a folk toy producer based in Fukushima Prefecture which crafts popular toys of the region such as akabeko (a talisman in the shape of a cow with a bobbing head for good fortune and health) and okiagari kobōshi (a weighted-bottom figurine that rights itself when tipped over, representing resilience and perseverance).

As the figurine is made with paper, avoid contact with water.
Do not expose painted areas to friction.
Avoid placing in areas where there is direct sunlight or near air conditioning, as extreme changes in temperature can lead to damage.
Do not expose to force, to avoid denting.
Individual items will differ from one another slightly, due to their handmade nature.
