This Hexagonal Glass Soy Sauce Dispenser is a reissued design that was originally produced in the 1970s by the longstanding glass maker, Hirota Glass, based in Tokyo. The dispenser was inspired by the lid of dropper bottles used in scientific experiments. At the time a frequent issue with soy sauce dispensers was a tendancy to leak from the lid when pouring. Hirota Glass solved this issue by firmly rubbing the body of the bottle with the glass stopper, creating a texture of frosted glass and securing the flow of soy sauce from the bottle to the spout through the lid instead of the body of the bottle.
A swallow emblem, the former logo of Hirota Glass, is moulded on the lid. This dispenser is an example of form following function, resulting in a design that is both useful and attractive.
Keep the lid as horizontal as possible when placing on the bottle.
Do not apply unnecessary force onto the lid when placing on the bottle.
When using for a long time, there can be some buildup on the lid from the soy sauce. Please wash regularly.
If lid is stuck due to soy sauce residue, place the soy sauce dispenser in warm water. Then tap the lid with the force of cracking an egg or wrap the bottle and place it upside down to tap on the lid.
If not used for a long period of time, place a piece of paper between the lid and the bottle to store.
