Wood chips created from Aomori hiba, a species of cypress native to Aomori Prefecture.
These wood chips are created from Aomori hiba, a species of cypress native to Aomori Prefecture. The wood is revered for its aromatic, antibacterial and insect-repelling properties.
The hiba chips can be placed near the entrance of the home for their ntural fragrance or inside of shoes for deodorizing effects. They may also help dehumidify wardrobes or closets, and when added to a vase, can help deter mould growth on the flowers due to their antibacterial properties.
Available in Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large.
The aroma can last between 3 and 6 months.
To recreate the aroma, place Hiba Wood Oil onto the chips.
As the chips have natural oils, avoid placing them on white or light-coloured clothes or surfaces as they can stain.

Tōhoku
Tōhoku consists of six prefectures located in the north-east of Honshu island. This region is known for its hot spring (onsen) resorts, colourful festivals, remote sacred mountains and harsh winters. In 2011, the devastating earthquake and tsunami hit the region hard; however, the massive efforts in reconstruction are proof of the people’s resilience. Urushi (lacquer) ware, ironware and the crafting of kokeshi dolls make up but a few of the local industries in this lesser-visited region of Japan.
