A donburi bowl hand-painted with vibrant red camellias.
This bowl is decorated with camellia flowers and leaves, which are regarded as auspicious in Japan due to the evergreen nature of the plant. It is suitable for serving simmered dishes, hearty soups and small rice bowl dishes. Its rounded form fits comfortably in the hand, reflecting Japanese dining culture, where dishes served with dashi-based broths and sauces are common and bowls are often held while eating.
Established in 1957 near Arita in Saga Prefecture, Keizangama is a family-run porcelain workshop specializing in hand-painted tableware. Each design is carefully transferred and traced by hand, then glazed and fired before the application of overglaze colours.
