Kinchaku Ame

These exquisite Japanese sweets from Tokyo have been enjoyed for over 200 years. The special quality of ariheitō (hard sweets) lies in the meticulous process of condensing the ingredients in copper pots, where precision is paramount. A minute too long in the pot and the ingredients will be infused with an overpowering flavour of caramelization. The result of careful timing are a harmonious balance between the nuanced flavours of the sweet and its captivating aroma.

Six flavours of individually wrapped ariheitō are presented in a charming kinchaku (a casual drawstring bag often used for carrying personal items). Included is the representative sweet of Eitaro, the Umeboshi-ame, named after its resemblance to umeboshi (pickled plum), with a distinctive flavour from the caramelization of high-purity granulated sugar and authentic mizuame (malt syrup) sourced exclusively from Japanese sweet potatoes.

Kuro-ame, is created with brown sugar sourced from Okinawa and dusted with cinnamon.

Matcha-ame, featuring the strong flavour and aroma of matcha produced in Japan.

Milk tea-ame, a fine balance of milk and Ceylon tea extracted in-house.

Nodo-ame (throat lozenges), created with Yamada Apiary’s Hyakka honey and Japanese mint.

Vanilla milk-ame, cream from the Nezushiro region of Hokkaido and Madagascan vanilla beans.
