These bamboo chopsticks and case are hand-crafted in Kyoto Prefecture to accompany bento boxes and packed lunches for outdoor eating. The slim form of the case has been streamlined to a depth of 1 cm using no excess material and features a highly polished, smooth texture with rounded edges. The case and its fitted lid are made by skilled craftspeople from laminated bamboo, which displays the distinctive pattern of layered bamboo cuts and which is finished with a urethane coating to create an easy-to-clean surface.
A decorative focal point, crafted from bamboo root, embellishes the band holding the case together and features the markings and shape of the natural material.
The chopsticks use the flexible quality of bamboo to create durable utensils. The narrowed point helps to pick up even the smallest pieces of food and the shorter-than-usual length of 20 cm makes them easily transportable.
