Kumiko Coaster Flower Kikko

A wooden coaster with an intricate pattern created through kumiko (a woodworking technique of assembling patterns with strips of wood). The Kumiko Coaster Sakura Kikkō has been rearranged to form a flower within the kikkō (tortoiseshell) pattern.
This wooden coaster is intricately handcrafted through kumiko, a woodworking technique in which thin strips of wood are precisely cut and fitted together without nails or glue to form intricate geometric patterns. Kumiko is commonly used in latticework on shо̄ji (translucent, sliding partition screens) as a decorative feature.
This coaster’s pattern was created by rearranging the Kumiko Coaster Sakura Kikkō to form a flower within the kikkō (tortoiseshell) pattern, a geometric formation of hexagons symbolising prosperity and longevity.
The coaster is unvarnished to preserve the natural wood texture, please avoid washing with water.
