竹中大工道具館 レターパッド
A pad for writing letters with an illustration of a sumitsubo (ink pot) used in carpentry by Philippe Weisbecker for Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum.
This letter writing pad features an illustration of a sumitsubo (ink pot) utilised by carpenters to draw straight lines. The sumitsubo does this by snapping an ink-coated line of silk string onto the surface of the wood, similar to a chalk line tool.
The illustration is by Philippe Weisbecker, an artist and illustrator based in Paris and Barcelona. He created a collection of illustrations of carpentry tools from Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum during a four-month artist-in-residence programme at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto.
