These sticker sets are produced in partnership with Nippon Design Center–a global design agency supporting the development of the Japanese economy through design–for the exhibition Pictograms: Iconic Japanese Designs. The exhibition explores Japan’s significant role in shaping this visual language, from the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games to the global rise of emoji.
In 2019, Nippon Design Center launched the project Experience Japan Pictograms, designed to enhance the experience of international visitors through a comprehensive visual communication system comprising over 600 country-specific symbols.
This playful sticker set features nine different pictogram designs. Available in two variations.
Set 1 includes pictograms of taiyaki (a fish-shaped cake filled with sweet red bean paste), Mount Fuji, Nara Park, ramen, sumo, samurai, onigiri, Asakusa and bullet train.
Set 2 has icons of sushi, hanami (a popular spring event in Japan where people gather under blossoming trees to enjoy a party and appreciate the seasonal flowers), tempura, a Japanese garden, Nebuta Festival, maiko (an apprentice to geisha who learn to perform dances, songs and Japanese instruments for visitors during banquets and parties), seated meditation, castle ruins and bonsai.
