磁器ロングプレート 白色
A carefully designed porcelain plate with an award-winning design from Nagasaki Prefecture.
This porcelain bowl is made in Nagasaki Prefecture in the small town of Hasami, known for its 400-year old tradition of producing high-quality porcelain. The plate’s design resembles the round pebbles and rocks found around riverbanks, that have been polished smooth by water and sand. The natural contours of this thoughtful design allows dishes to be presented in a variety of creative ways, to give a subtly different visual effect with every use. This plate won the Good Design Award in 2020.

Tōhoku consists of six prefectures located in the north-east of Honshu island. This region is known for its hot spring (onsen) resorts, colourful festivals, remote sacred mountains and harsh winters. In 2011, the devastating earthquake and tsunami hit the region hard; however, the massive efforts in reconstruction are proof of the people’s resilience. Urushi (lacquer) ware, ironware and the crafting of kokeshi dolls make up but a few of the local industries in this lesser-visited region of Japan.
