The SUWADA Bonsai Scissors are crafted in Sanjō, Niigata Prefecture, a region historically associated with blacksmithing, notably for creating sharp tools, such as knives and scissors. Multi-purpose and ideal for shaping bonsai, these scissors are slightly smaller than Okubo Shears in the same range. This iteration is designed to be ergonomic and precise, fitting for trimming a bonsai’s thin branches, leaves and buds. The scissors are hand-forged, shaped and sharpened skilfully by the hands of craftspeople, without any automated processes. With longevity and durability in mind, they are crafted from high-carbon Japanese steel with a thin coating to prevent rust.
Size: L18 x W9.5 x H2 cm
The central Chūbu region is predominantly mountainous, home to the rugged Japan Alps with coasts on both the Sea of Japan and the Pacific Ocean. The region's history has been shaped by its strategic position between the great cities of Kyoto and Tokyo with Nagoya at its heart. Niigata lies to the north while Mt Fuji can be found in the south in Shizuoka Prefecture.
